Winner of Film The House 2012

EXCLUSIVE - Paramount Pictures, Lionsgate, Warner Bros, Google, Adobe, ITN, Apollo Cinemas and The Motion Picture Association are among a host of companies and institutions backing the UK Government's Film The House contest, which is set to close in just less than a week.

As Hollywood continues to invest more in productions shot in the UK, the British Government has been working behind-the-scenes to help promote up and coming creative talent and spread awareness on protecting original work.

How to enter

Filmmakers are being invited to submit short videos up to 10 minutes in length which will then be reviewed by local members of Parliament and submitted for a final selection.

Lord David Puttnam, President of the Film Distributors Association and Independent Film Producer highlighted the contest saying that:

“The UK has always been a hotbed of cinematic talent, which is why it's crucial to constantly remind legislators of the importance of protecting and supporting this rich cultural economy."

Currently the contest is only open to UK residents but there are plans to look at expanding it beyond the UK given its popularity and support.

Mike Weatherley, Founder of Film the House spoke about the contest and said:

“Every year Film the House gets bigger and better and my thanks go to our patrons, sponsors, judges, the entrants and the MPs who take part. If you’re a musician or a filmmaker, make sure you take part in the 2014 competition.”

Thanks to the commitment of some major backers, filmmakers who are selected will receive a host of prizes that have been expanded since we initially reported the contest earlier this year. They include :

  • A screening for the winning films at an exclusive event in the House of Commons this July.
  • A private screening of a film in a Paramount theatre.

  • A film course at the London Film Academy.
  • A year membership with Adobe Creative Cloud – Giving designers and filmmakers full access to Photoshop/ Premier editing suites.
