Fox TV Show contestants lose $800K with right answer

LOS ANGELES, USA - The Christmas season has turned sour for two contestants who lost $800,000 on Fox s new game show Million Dollar Money Drop but gave the right answer.

After a backlash online, the network decided to invite the couple back to compete again for the prize, however the credibility of the show has been panned.

Despite the invite, critics are asking why they can t be awarded the sum they would have actually won if the answer was correct.

Contestants Gabe Okoye and Brittany Mayi said that Post It notes were sold in stores before the Walkman and Mac computers came out in 1979. However, it was in 1977 that is was first introduced.

Fox  Million Dollar Money Drop  Statement

Executive Producer Jeff Apploff issues a statement regarding the error :

"Unfortunately, the information our research department originally obtained from 3M regarding when Post-it notes were first sold was incomplete.   As a result of new information we have received from 3M, we feel it is only fair to give our contestants, Gabe and Brittany, another shot to play Million Dollar Money Drop even though this question was not the deciding question in their game.   The revised information regarding the Post-it is as follows: the product was originally tested for sale in four cities under the name 'Press 'N Peel' in 1977, sold as 'Post-its' in 1979 when the rollout introduction began and sold nationwide in 1980.   We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the viewers who brought this to our attention, and we're thrilled to give Gabe and Brittany the opportunity to return to play the game. - Time.com

While the contestants have been invited to compete again on the show, they will not receive the $800,000.
