William Shatner admitted that he would be missing Leonard Nimoy's funeral and apologized to fans ahead of time, realizing he couldn't drop a charity event he had committed to.
The bad timing led to a frenzy of comments on social media about how he should be heading over to the funeral, with calls for him to get a private jet booked in Florida.
@sfutterman Shatner can't make Nimoy's funeral. Come on Bill. Get a private jet. You can make it. You've got to be there.

So sad. Does no one have a private jet to get Bill Shatner to Spock's funeral? #WilliamShatner #LeonardNimoy

I have a feeling that after a few dozen suggestions to try a private jet, Bill Shatner gets the idea, and doesn't need dozens more.

Shatner then made a series of tweets suggesting that everyone should come together on Sunday to remember Leonard Nimoy while stating that he had agreed to be in Florida to participate in a Red Cross Ball Saturday night and that he wouldn't have enough time to get back for the funeral.
So maybe tomorrow we come together here and celebrate his life.
