Extended version of Stanley Kubrick's 'The Shining' to hit cinemas

BFI plans new theatrical release of 'The Shining'

The BFI is about to give audiences what they've never seen before at the cinemas: the longer American version of 'The Shining'.

Released back in 1980, 'The Shining' is considered to be one of, if not the greatest horror film of all time. It's a classic, based on Stephen King's best selling book, starring Jack Nicholson in his most memorable role. 'The Shining' was released in Europe with a different cut than in America and the BFI will be revealing to UK audiences a cut that is 24 minutes longer.

The original trailer to the movie is also being re-mastered and will promote the release this autumn. The film is scheduled for a Halloween release, and will be in over 100 cinemas around the UK.

Take a look at this preview trailer below to remind you of this horror classic, which has also been referenced in many films since its release.
