Eminem to return to acting as The Riddler?

LOS ANGELES, USA - Eminem recently had talks with Batman producers to play The Riddler, but faces competition from Johnny Depp and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The multi-talented rapper, who was praised by the film industry for his role in 2002 s hit 8 Mile made it clear to Christopher Nolan in a verse that "When it comes to business, you know I ain't no fiddler; You tell them Batman biggies, I wanna play The Riddler!"

8 Mile was a huge hit and captivated young people with a story showing how despite the overwhelming odds against success, it was possible to make it with talent and determination. Film director Curtis Hanson, behind Oscar winning L.A Confidential cast the rapper along with Kim Basinger and Brittany Murphy, who sadly passed away this year. Eminem had also been Oscar tipped after the film s release, but no nomination was given,

Eminem has been an iconic figure in the music industry for pushing the boundaries of free speech and controversy, using music videos to twist political issues and highlight popular culture. To act The Riddler would be a comical win for him, as he often portrays larger than life characters with super hero abilities in his music videos.

Film director Christopher Nolan, who helmed the last two Batman movies with Christian Bale recently spoke in Italy about the film, revealing that a first draft had been completed. He also said :

Without getting into specifics, the key thing that makes the third film a great possibility for us is that we want to finish our story. And in viewing it as the finishing of a story rather than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story.

While audiences are looking forward to seeing Eminem return to acting in a pivotal role, casting for The Riddler is set to be a difficult process, and the final decision, will be ultimately left to Christopher Nolan. The Dark Knight, released in 2007 was an international box office hit, with Heath Ledger receiving a posthumous Oscar for his portrayal of the Joker.
