Chinese film industry expansion

The Chinese film industry is to expand by making more films and building more theaters.

As demand increases across mainland china and film becomes a luxury more and more people can afford to watch. It comes as no surprise as China's economic power blossoms. The announcement by Deputy director Zhao Shi for China s state Administration of Radio Film and Television was welcomed by the wider industry, but details have yet to emerge.

China has strict limits on foreign films that are shown every year, which is currently limited to 20 imports. James Cameron's Avatar has been hugely successful, raking in $204 million.
