A total of 61 million viewers tuned in to watch the first teaser which broke the one day record set by “Avengers: Age of Ultron” last year, gathering 34 million views.

The viewership record was also more than twice the figure of the original “Captain America” trailer which could suggest a significant leap in interest for the next adventure which comes out on May 6th next year.

Shot at the Pinewood Atlanta Studios, the film is the first production to use IMAX’s digital 2D cameras and follows on from the events of “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

“Captain America: Civil War” stars Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle and William Hurt. The sequel is directed by Anthony and Jo Russo and produced by Kevin Feige.
