The Cannes Film Festival has unveiled its 2014 official poster featuring a stylish, sepia toned portrait of Marcello Mastroianni.
The Italian actor, star of Federico Fellini's classic '8½' is featured in a soft, diffused still as he motions to push back his sunglasses. In the left corner, the designers have added a stylish glow to his shades.
It was back in 1963 when the Cannes Film Festival showed Fellini's '8½' in the official selection. Over the decades, the nuance of Italian cinema has evolved, and this year the festival is commemorating the influence and "artistic importance" of Italian filmmaking over the years.
The 2014 Cannes Film Festival will commence this year on the 14th May with French actor Lambert Wilson hosting the opening ceremony along with President, Jane Campion. It was announced last week that Pablo Trapero would preside over the 'Un Certain Regard' selection, which features 20 films in this year's selection.
With the festival just less than a month a way, preparations are well underway in Cannes for France's biggest cultural event of the year.
