Set in the late 90s, "Rustic Oracle" is a dramatic feature film about Ivy (Lake Delisle), an 8-year-old girl trying to understand what happened to her big sister who has vanished from their small Mohawk community. With minimal clues, Ivy and her mother Susan (Carmen Moore) embark on an unwelcome journey to find Heather which will ultimately bring the pair closer together despite challenging circumstances. Behind the story of desperation, told through the eyes of a child, lies one of hope, growth, awakening and love.

Heartbroken by the maddening issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women in Canada, Sonia Bonspille Boileau “wanted to tell the story of a missing teen from an Indigenous perspective, rather than the perspective of a Caucasian male police officer trying to find answers.” She wanted the story to be told from the view of the actual people who live it, which is something that had never been done before.

Shot right in Boileau’s home community of Kanehsatà:ke, many locals took part in telling this very important and emotional story through Ivy and Susan’s journey. Written and directed by Sonia Bonspille Boileau, this film stars Carmen Moore, Lake Delisle, McKenzie Deer Robinson, Margo Kane and Alex Rice.

Regarding the "Rustic Oracle" release, director Boileau expressed her excitement for people outside of Canada to see the film. She hopes “people are touched and moved by this important story and its performances. [She’s] excited for audiences to see strong Indigenous women on screen, which is something we do not see enough of.” After seeing "Rustic Oracle," many wrote to director Boileau to express how profoundly moved by the film they were and how the story has changed their way of seeing the issue of MMIWG. Boileau is humbled by how well the film has been received so far and she is thrilled to see how it will continue to create awareness and touch the hearts of people around the globe.

Sold to Reel 2 Reel Films Limited for release in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Ireland in the 2nd quarter of 2021 on all platforms, the release will include a limited theatrical release in the US.
