Can British cast save Rock of Ages? By FIN Staff / 18 June 2012 British actors part of the Rock of Ages history ‘Rock Of Ages’ has opened this week at the US Box Office in 3rd place despite huge hype and anticipation for the 80s themed musical thrill ride. Opening with a disappointing $15 million, ‘Rock Of Ages’ stars Tom Cruise, Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta Jones, Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta. The film has been met with mixed reviews but what can attribute to its lack of box office punch in America? Will the light hearted 80s rock flick appeal more to UK audiences? Russell Brand : Rock of Ages misfit? Russell Brand has had a successful run doing voice over for animation movies but his recent films, including ‘The Tempest’ and ‘Arthur’, have been disastrous. Looking at the box office successes of British actors these past few weeks we can certainly highlight Sacha Baron Cohen’s win in ‘The Dictator’ in both America and at home. ‘The Dictator’ opened at number 1 in the UK earning £5 million. Let’s see how ‘Rock Of Ages’ performs.
