“Orange is the New Black” actress Dascha Polanco is facing assault charges after being accused of punching a 17-year-old teenager.

The alleged attack took place on July 29th in Polanco’s New York apartment where the 33-year-old punched the teenager multiple times.

The LA Times reports that Polanco appeared at the Manhattan Criminal Court on December 3rd to face the charges. Polanco’s attorney has claimed the complaint is an attempt to “extort money” from the actress and will be thrown out. It is not clear what the two women were doing at the time of the altercation or what could have brought on the assault.

Polanco will soon appear in “Joy” opposite Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper which comes out December 25th. The actress can currently be seen in the Netflix series “Orange is the New Black.”

Her next court appearance is scheduled for January 28th.
