50 Shades of Grey porno a blessing for Universal Studios

Universal Studios wins epic victory

Producers of the unauthorized porn remake of 'Fifty Shades of Grey' are being sued by Universal Studios in a move that is already without a doubt, a major victory.

Firstly, thanks to this porn film, Universal Studios have now attained international media coverage for their own production of 'Fifty Shades of Grey', winning them a multi-million dollar marketing campaign practically for free. In addition to this, they haven't even begun to reap the rewards from the filmmakers who ripped off El James' best-selling trilogy, and there are more 'illegal productions' coming.

I really have to hand it to Universal Studios on this one. 5 out of 5. Whoever decided to announce this deserves a raise, and a pat on the back. Whether the lawsuit even generates a penny is irrelevant at this point because the return on 'investment' into this case has already been met 10 fold. Just look at this list of sources quoting and discussing this news :

THR, The Sun, E! Online, Examiner, Hollywood Gossip, The Wrap, AceShowbiz, Entertainment weekly and of course now Film Industry Network.

In regards to the lawsuit itself, Universal Studios, which have acquired the film rights, are seeking unspecified damages from the producerw including profits from sales of the illegal adaptation.

Universal Studios according to the BBC acquired the film rights back in March 2012 for $5 million. The film trilogy is currently in early development and an official cast for the first movie has yet to be announced.
