'The Patriot' actress Skye McCole Bartusiak has been found dead at her home in Texas at the age of 21.

Best known for her role as Mel Gibson's young daughter in 'The Patriot', the circumstances of her death are currently unconfirmed. The actress' death was announced by her friend Abigail Breslin according to THR.

Bartusiak recently starred in several short films including 'Bushido' and 'Sick Boy'. She also appeared in an episode of 'CSI : Crime Scene Investigation', 'Lost' and 'House M.D'.

It is believed that her death is not being treated as a suicide at present. The actress was found dead on Saturday morning by police and an autopsy has been scheduled to find the exact cause.
